While on my way to a private reception in honor of the movie American Sniper (the invite was from Robert DeNiro, a good friend of the movie's star, Bradley Cooper) at the Time Warner Building offices, the first person I spotted getting out of the elevator was none other than Toby Maguire - I was mostly excited to see the Spiderman star because of his starring role in this horse lover's fav film, Seabiscuit.
I immediately spotted Bradley in the small room, and made my way over to congratulate him on the movie and tell him about a personal connection I had to his previous movie, American Hustle. My parents were in town so of course they wanted to be a part of my fame filled life, so they tagged along. While we were talking to Mr. Cooper, we were suddenly interrupted, and I wasn't going to let anyone interrupt my time with the A-lister (who by the way is extremely nice and down to earth! As if he could get any more perfect!) Then I realized that the interrupter was Robert DeNiro..that's right, the Godfather star decided to cut in and give Bradley a kiss. Let's just say I let it slide!
While Toby was munching away on the food, I recognized another famous face, and my first love since elementary school...Leonardo Dicaprio! I was so obsessed with Leo that I had a life size cut out of the Titanic star in fifth grade. At first he was hardly recognizable with a beard, hat and sunglasses - I found out later that the look was due to his filming of the Revenant - and I thought for a moment I might faint. Yes, Leonardo has that affect! I realized I couldn't let him just get away so I said 'hi' and he said...wait for it...'hellooooo!' with a definite emphasis on the 'oooooo!' While I have had a long time to decide what I would say to my future husband, I wasn't expecting him to be there and my mind turned to mashed potatoes. All I can hope is that I run into him again so I can regain the ability to think and continue the conversation. Hey Leo, if you're reading this, call me!
