Before even entering the Angel Orensanz Foundation for a Purim benefit for the 14th Street Y, I spotted a festive and checkered suit wearing, high heeled, funky glasses adorned greeter. Considering this was a masquerade event for Purim, aka a Jewish version of Halloween, at least the part where you get to dress up, this was a perfect start to the night! Celeb Connection: Alex Karpovsky of HBO's 'Girls' is a frequent visitor. He told me at the last Y benefit that he is part of the basketball team. Maybe he'll quit his day job and join the NBA! While anything is possible, you'll most likely see him in an upcoming new show before he becomes the next Michael Jordan!
After making it up the stairs of the very Phantom of the Opera feeling space - creaks and all - I found some festive food, henna tattoos and a silent auction (including Hamilton tickets - I gave Lin Manuel Miranda my card once and still haven't secured a seat yet!) Acrobats from the amazing group Cirque-tacular performed, well, circus inspired routines that were quite spectacular! One of the acrobats even poured me champagne while up in the air!
As is all of this excitement was not enough, guests were treated to some tasty treats by Dylan's Candy Bar (Ralph Lauren's daughter Dylan started the fun candy store on the Upper East Side) and got down with a rockin' DJ...I think I was even inspired to learn some acrobatic routines - or at least find some stilt sized stilettos!
