Where do you go when you want to be in the middle of the most famous financial institution in the world? The New York Stock Exchange! I was invited to the Interbrand Breakthrough Brands summit in the beautifully renovated event space above the trading floor where I got to meet some of the coolest and hottest start-up founders.
Amongst the coolest and hottest founders were Michelle Goad of PS Dept, a personalized online shopping app and Rachel Tipograph of MikMak, a Forbes 30 Under 30 alumni. Tipograph's MikMak is making infommercials cool again for hundreds of your favorite stores!
Taskrabbit, instacart and General Assembly were a few of the 40 brands selected to be a part of the event - Scott Norton, the co-founder of everyone's favorite ketchup, Sir Kensington's was there, so of course I had to find some ketchup so we could take a pic!
While I had a great time during the summit, I REALLYYY wanted to get on the trading floor! I was told you need a trader to get on you so I was on the lookout for a finance guy (not hard to find at the NYSE!) until I found a friend who was coming in the building on his way for an interview about his super awesome app and other start-up companies. Long story short, I got onto the floor, found someone to give me a tour and got to stand next to the closing bell in time for closing - next time of course I will be the one ringing it for All the Fame!
