Tony's Fever! Throwback to the Broadway Premiere of Allegiance
June 13, 2017
The Tony's might be over, but whether your favorite shows won or lost, we all have that special play or musical which touched our lives. My fav show of all time might be the Phantom of the Opera, but my favorite star studded show was the opening of Allegiance!
He might have a cult following from his earlier days on Star Trek play, but George Takei wanted to entertain and educate audiences with his Broadway debut in Allegiance. The show, about Japanese Internment camps during the war, was definitely insightful and also star studded!
Before even entering the theatre, the stars were gathering on the red carpet and entering the theatre - I got a hold of Howard Stern - who is a fellow BU alum terrier! I definitely think he should give me a spot on his show! The leading actors of An American in Paris and I also posed for pics before we were ushered in to find our seats.
Perez Hilton was definitely a few rows ahead of me, but that was nothing compared to all the stars I mixed and mingled with before during and after the show! While I usually head right for the snacks during intermission I was too distracted by the stars here, there and everywhere! From Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda to Kate McKinnon from SNL, I didn't know where to look first!
While Lin, aka the biggest genius on the planet was super nice and posed for tons of pics, he still hasn't gotten me tickets to Hamilton! That's okay, I won't hold it against him...well, maybe just a little!
Actor Taye Diggs was also making his way to the concessions before I had to of course tell him what a huge fan I am!
While the show was great, the play was really the touching and thoughtful and historical play was really the best part and George Takei was the brightest star of all!
As any Fame Digger knows, the best part of any party is the AFTER PARTY! We all headed to the restaurant at Bryant Park Grill where there was another red carpet, sparkling decor, tons of food and more stars - this time, the stars of the show! Let's just say you really didn't know who you might wind up meeting mixing and mingling in this crowd!
